America, Let’s Do Lunch

Print Friendly, PDF & Email
Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County is participating in a national volunteer recruitment campaign sponsored by Meals on Wheels America. The focus of this effort is to shine the spotlight on those individuals who can no longer prepare meals for themselves because of physical or cognitive decline.

Why is this important in the United States?
Nationwide, more than 10 million (1 in 6) seniors face the threat of hunger, and more than 15 million are living alone in isolation. It is not just a problem “somewhere else,” it is a big problem right here in Tarrant County.

With the senior population projected to double by 2050, Meals on Wheels organizations across the country need to inspire and recruit a new generation of volunteers to keep up with the growing need.

As you know, volunteering to deliver meals is about so much more than nutrition. It is about the moments of human connection that nourish and inspire the senior and the volunteer.
