Position Overview: Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County is currently seeking a Registered Dietitian to join our Nutrition Team in a community health environment. With your expertise as a Registered Dietitian, you will work in collaboration with case management to provide individual evidence-based medical nutrition therapy assessments and interventions that are compatible with the patient focused health goals and objectives. Primary responsibilities include application of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP), including Nutrition Focused Physical Finding (NFPF) and completion of the nutrition assessment, determination of the nutrition diagnosis, identifying and documenting presence of acute/chronic protein-calorie malnutrition, developing and implementing nutrition interventions, behavioral goal setting and monitoring, and evaluating of the patient’s progress. The RD will analyze the effectiveness of interventions and use outcome metrics to implement improvements. In this position, keeping up with the latest nutrition research and applying it to practice is essential. The RD will develop research-based, population-specific educational materials to provide to clients as references. This position will allow you the opportunity to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy to all acuity levels and a wide variety of disease states.

Paid As: Hourly, Non-Exempt Full-Time Employee

Hours of Operation: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM Friday

Reports To: Vice President Nutrition & Health Programs

AGENCY EXPECTATION OF EMPLOYEE

  • Maintain confidentiality of client, donor, volunteer, staff and board information
  • Support the mission, vision and goals of Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County
  • Must have dependable transportation, valid driver license and personal vehicle insurance as required by the State of Texas
  • Assist with meal delivery when volunteer callouts make it necessary for staff to deliver
  • Contribute to other projects when necessary

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

  • Complete detailed nutritional assessments of clients in ADIME format
  • Work one-on-one with clients and their caregivers to promote good nutrition and desirable diabetes management techniques
  • Participate in the training of clinical nutrition intern students by acting as preceptors and instructor throughout the year as assigned
  • Work with outside organizations to support new initiatives and grant programs
  • Maintain accurate and detailed client records
  • Collaborate with other professionals working on projects
  • Stay current on new and emerging trends in nutrition related to the aging population
  • Integrate new knowledge into practice
  • Develop and update culturally competent educational materials to address health literacy and improve communication effectiveness

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian with current registration with Commission on Dietetic Registration and State of Texas licensure.
  • Registered Dietitian Eligible with the ability to achieve their RD within 90 days may also be considered.

 REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

  • Bachelor’s degree at a US regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Completed an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program at a health-care facility, community agency, or a foodservice corporation or combined with undergraduate or graduate studies
  • Pass a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Must obtain and maintain required state licensure to practice dietetics
  • Must obtain and maintain Texas Food Handlers certification
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks on any given day
  • Excellent customer service and must be a self-starter, taking initiative
  • Required to pass criminal background check and have a free and clear MVR
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Clinical and community nutrition, client/patient counseling and nutrition documentation
  • Specialized training in diabetes
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish or Vietnamese speaking
