All Day
Join Mayor Betsy Price in helping to make Fort Worth and the surrounding communities a more compassionate place to live.
Please consider volunteering to deliver meals to the homebound elderly and disabled residents of Tarrant County on an ongoing basis or ride along with an existing volunteer to see how rewarding it can be.
For more information or to volunteer, please contact Nedra Cutler at 817-258-6426 or nedra@mealsonwheels.org
This year’s event focuses on the following themes.
Unity: A community should be united on shared values, recognize the uniqueness of individuals and communities and decrease actions fueled by the hatred of those differences.
Volunteerism: A community should embrace volunteerism and strive to give all citizens every opportunity to learn how to reach out in service to their fellow citizens and make a positive difference.
Abundance: A community should strive to end poverty and come together to ensure all citizens are abundantly fed physically, mentally, and spiritually.
A letter from Mayor Betsy Price
Dear Friends,
Last year, the Fort Worth City Council signed the International Charter for Compassion, designating Fort Worth as a “Compassionate City.” I believe that actions motivated by the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” will help us become an even greater and more compassionate city.
Several members of my Faith Leaders Cabinet steward our vision of “Building Bridges for a More Compassionate Fort Worth,” built on the three values of Volunteerism, Unity and Abundance.
During the Mayor’s Week of Compassionate Service, January 16-24, I am calling on families, business leaders, faith institutions, non-profits, neighborhoods, schools and individuals from across Tarrant County to create, organize and initiate volunteer projects of your choice throughout that week. Everyone can do something!
I want to see our citizens volunteer and give a day, or even an hour to demonstrate tangible acts of compassion from January 16-24, 2016. Let’s come together in January to serve and volunteer, helping those among us, inspiring others to action and serving as an example of compassion to other cities across our nation!
Thank you for your continued support of our community and families.
Betsy Price
Mayor
