  • $1,820 feeds a person in need for an entire year

Gifts & Donations

Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County relies on community donations for more than 50% of our budget. Individual, foundation, church, civic group, business, and client contributions are extremely important. Financial donations, volunteer time, and in-kind donation of services or products are appreciated. Consider making an online donation today.

Endowment

The Endowment Fund is an important element to our overall fundraising plans. This fund was established to ensure that meals and other services would be available for future generations. Contributions to this fund are professionally invested to maximize the interest income. A portion of the interest is gifted annually to the Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County operating fund for meals.

The Legacy Society

The Legacy Society was formed by people who believe in the mission of Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County and who support that belief by making substantial financial gifts and commitments to ensure that meals will be available for future generations.

Donors, caring volunteers, meal recipients, and their families want to make sure the program is financially prepared to meet the ongoing needs of elderly and disabled homebound people.

  • Fund-A-Meal Forever – a gift of $24,000 to the Endowment Fund will provide meals for one person FOREVER!
  • Named Funds – your gift of $5,000 to the Endowment Fund will provide 50 meals each year FOREVER!
  • Include Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County in your Will or Estate Plan – please let us know so that we can include you in Legacy Society events

More questions?

Vehicle donations are tax deductible. Our organization has been designated by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charity. The best practice is to consult with a tax professional on how to maximize your tax deduction since every car donation and tax situation is unique. In general, the IRS limits the tax deduction to the gross proceeds from the sale of the car, truck, or other vehicle. Charitable contributions must be itemized on Schedule A of Form 1040 to qualify. If the gross proceeds exceed $500, Form 1098C “Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes” and Form 8283 “Noncash Charitable Contributions” must also be completed and attached. Forms 1098C and 8283 are required to be provided to the donor within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle. To learn more about the donor’s responsibilities before making a car donation, please consult the “Donors Guide to Vehicle Donations” found in IRS Publication 4303.
