May 3, 2016 āĀ Congressman Joe Barton to visit new Meals On Wheels headquarters.Ā Ā Congressman Joe Barton will tour the new Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County facility with other local home-delivered meals programs, and discuss the potential impact of the DELIVER Act, which he recently introduced along with Congressman John Lewis. The DELIVER Act would allow volunteers who use their own vehicles to deliver meals to deduct the full standard business rate for mileage on their tax returns. Post tour interviews with Congressman Barton will be available.

Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization that has provided home-delivered meals, professional case management, and other needed items or services to homebound elderly and disabled residents throughout Tarrant County since it was established in 1973.
The new meal production and distribution center was constructed to keep up with the demand for services in Tarrant County. Meals On Wheels currently prepares and delivers approximately 1 million meals per year within Tarrant County.Ā That need is expected to increase by 75% within the next 15 years, requiring an additional 750,000 meals each year.
Its mission is to promote the dignity and independence of older adults, persons with disabilities, and other homebound persons by delivering nutritious meals and providing or coordinating needed services.
