Introduction
The Operating Plan flows from the Strategic Plan and captures the tactics to be used to accomplish the objectives over the next three years. The Operating Plan is developed and implemented by the staff and directs the operations of the organization. As in all activities of a nonprofit organization, it is important to have the organization’s mission and vision at the forefront. In the plan Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County will be referred to as Meals On Wheels.
The mission and vision of Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County as adopted in the Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County 2022-2025 Strategic Plan, are as follows:
Mission:
To enable people to live with dignity and independence by offering community support through nutritious meals and coordinated services that improve well-being
Vision:
A compassionate community where people live with dignity and independence
The purpose of the Operating Plan is to guide the staff in accomplishing the objectives set forth in the Strategic Plan. The objectives approved in the Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County 2022-2025 Strategic Plan are as follows:
- Strategically improve Meals On Wheels program offerings and method of delivery
- Increase the impact of Meals On Wheels through proactive engagement with funders, major donors, volunteers, and other community partners
- Update infrastructure to meet future growing demand more efficiently and effectively
- Strengthen internal culture – staff, Board, and volunteers – to fully realize the benefits of the updated infrastructure
The Operating Plan guides the organization by defining the tactics at a high level, assigning responsibility, and determining the timing for accomplishing these tactics. Because things change (changes in personnel, environment, funding, technology, success of tactics, and many other considerations), this Operating Plan should be revisited and adjusted as needed to keep the organization on track to meet the Strategic Plan objectives.
The pages that follow set forth the framework for the Operating Plan. The pages are grouped into sections based on the objectives from the Meals On Wheels 2022-2025 Strategic Plan. The purpose of this Operating Plan is to define the tactics that will be utilized to implement each key strategy and accomplish the objectives.
